The Library Furniture Guy was formed in November, 1993. I had spent several years with a prominent dealership in Birmingham and realized that the market already had its’ share of “contract furniture generalists” and I was looking for a niche market where we could become the dominant player and, fortunately, we found that in planning and furnishing library interiors. We associated with the premier domestic and European manufacturers of library specific furnishings and began concentrating on that unique market.
I had always been intrigued by architectural specialties, especially gorgeous, movable glass wall systems and attended the annual IFMA convention in Dallas, 2008 to explore opportunities. Subsequently, we became affiliated with both a movable wall system and an operable wall manufacturer. This marked the genesis of our “Rep Division” which now includes such architectural specialties as raised, access flooring, sound masking and fixed seating.
My entire career has been spent in the A/D world and we have longstanding relationships with architects and interior designers throughout Alabama. We are actively involved in the AIA, CSI, IIDA and IFMA chapters across the state. Consequently, much of our work is in the construction industry and we maintain relationships with many General Contractors statewide.
Our showroom is perfectly situated in Birmingham from which we cover Sweet Home Alabama.
